DANCE: PUSH Physical Theatre (2/8)

Published by Dale Evans on Feb 06, 2008
In theater it's bad luck to wish someone good luck. Instead, we hope they "break a leg," a phrase that lacks definitive origin, but is understood to mean we are wishing them the words that must remain unspoken. PUSH Physical Theatre is giving the phrase additional meaning with its new work titled "-abled." Inspired by dancer and co-founder Darren Stevenson's personal experience of breaking his leg, the piece makes use of crutches, walkers, and other physical support equipment. The piece gets its world premiere Friday, February 8, at 7:30 p.m. at Geva Theatre Center's Nextstage, 75 Woodbury Boulevard. Performances continue through February 17. Tickets cost $15. Call the box office at 232-4382 for tickets, or visit gevatheatrecenter.com.
