FESTIVAL: Lakeside Winter Celebration (2/10)

Complete with a "Chilly Chili Challenge," where amateurs and professional chefs compete for the title of "best chili," and professional ice carving demonstrations, the 24th Annual Lakeside Winter Celebration is a mixture of hot foods and fun for the cold. Event goers can take the Polar Plunge, a chilly dip in Lake Ontario to raise money for the New York State Special Olympics, or participate in the Frostbiter's Sailboat Race. Other winter activities include dog sled demonstrations, horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice-wine tasting, various games for the children, and a snow sculpture contest.
The Lakeside Winter Celebration takes place Sunday, February 10, noon-4 p.m. at the Port of Rochester Terminal and Ontario Beach Park in Charlotte. More information is available by calling 428-6767 or visiting cityofrochester.gov.
