FOLK/ROCK: Old Blind Dogs (2/7)

Published by Ryan Whirty on Feb 06, 2008
In addition to writing verses that would make him beloved in his native Scotland and admired around the world, 18th-century poet Robert Burns collected and authored folk songs that celebrated and embodied Scottish culture. For more than 15 years, Old Blind Dogs have been carrying on Burns' spirit by becoming the preeminent contemporary purveyors of traditional Scottish music. In doing so, the group has earned a rich reputation and devoted following both in Scotland and abroad, and has been honored as Band of the Year multiple times by the Scots Trad Music Awards. Touring in support of latest release "Four on the Floor," the Dogs employ border pipes, bouzouki, fiddle, and other traditional Celtic instruments to represent the best of Scottish culture and history.
