Dating as far back as 1897, Rochester's Labor Lyceum has presented speakers, papers, and debates on topics that range from trade unionism to child labor to academic freedom. This Saturday the group will host New York Times reporter, Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Rochester resident, and recent City cover story subject David Cay Johnston, who will give a presentation called "Free Lunch - How the Wealthiest Americans Enrich Themselves at Government Expenses." Johnston will talk about lobbyists and lawyers, who represent the nation's richest 0.1 percent, and the effect they have on the economy and the remaining 99.9 percent of the population.
"Free Lunch" takes place Saturday, February 16, 10 a.m.-noon at the NYSUT Hall, 30 North Union Street. The event is, appropriately, free, and open to the public. For more information, visit rochesterlabor.org/lyceumschedule.html.
