POLITICS: Frankel will run for State Senate

Published by Jeremy Moule on Feb 05, 2008
Brighton Supervisor Sandra Frankel is the first Democratic candidate to confirm her candidacy for the 56th District State Senate seat. Democrats Rick Dollinger and Willa Powell may also run for the seat.

Frankel has scheduled a press conference for Wednesday, February 6, to make the official announcement. Among the backers present will be freshman County Legislator Dick Beebe, and Jim Vogel, a Brighton town board member and vice chair of the Monroe County Democratic Committee.

The Senate seat is currently held by Greece Republican Joe Robach.

On Monday, Brighton Town Justice Rick Dollinger resigned from the bench to explore a possible run. Dollinger held the seat before Robach and is a former chair of the County Democratic Committee.

City School Board member Willa Powell, who challenged Robach in 2006, is reportedly weighing another run.
