POLITICS: Kuhl and health care

Published on Feb 07, 2008
Randy Kuhl claims credit for making health care available for children, but he votes against health care for children. Last month, for the third time, he voted against the bipartisan SCHIP bill. This vote came only a few days after he sent an expensive mailer to everyone in the 29th district claiming credit for providing health care for children.

His reasons for voting against SCHIP are just as duplicitous as his mailer. He says it would provide health care for illegal aliens. Not true. He says it would provide health care for adults. Not true. He says it would raise taxes. Not true, unless you count an increase in tobacco taxes.

What he doesn't mention is that he gets thousands of dollars from tobacco lobbyists to be their errand boy, helping them to persuade senators to go along with Randy's colleagues in the House.

The SCHIP mailer was followed by an equally misleading mailer on energy policy. I don't expect Randy to stop contradicting himself, but I do wish he would quit spending our money sending out mailers claiming credit for things he voted against.
