PUBLIC DEFENDER: Strong words at Lej meeting

Published by Jeremy Moule on Feb 12, 2008
Community activist Ray Scott led about 40 people out of the Monroe County Legislature Chambers shortly after 7 p.m. tonight. The Lej is meeting to pick a new public defender. The process has been marred by charges of partisanship and exclusion. Scott and others yelled as they left, calling Lej Republicans "cowards." Republicans are controlling the public defender pick. Tonight's meeting began at 6 p.m. Members of the public spoke until around 7:20 p.m.
