Who cares if 1-800-FLOWERS won't be knocking on your door, Valrhona won't be ensuring that your life is like a box of chocolates, and no cozy candle-lit corner has been reserved in your name? Valentine, Schmalentine! If you're lovelorn, love lost, love torn, love broken, or just think love sucks, Lux Lounge can give you just what the doctor ordered. Beginning at 9 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, you can hang out with similarly alone - but not lonely - singles and get a Shot Through the Heart, a de-lish grape-y concoction served up in a large hypodermic sans needle, along with other drink specials. The bar's annual anti-Valentine party has become a Rochester tradition as people line the bar to chomp on candy message Valentines and proudly display their "Love Sucks" pins, which are given free at the door.
Lux is located at 666 South Avenue and admission is free. Call them at 232-9030, but don't expect an answer. Love hurts.
