SPECIAL EVENT: Miss Greater Rochester (2/9)

Published by Brendan Giusti on Feb 06, 2008

Since Margaret Gorman first won in 1921, the Miss America Pageant has been a blend of talent and beauty, and Rochester is a part of it. The 2008 Miss Greater Rochester Pageant contestants boast of raising funds for charity while the hopefuls work towards becoming the next Miss America. The premise is the same: contestants display a talent, wear evening gowns and swimsuits, and weigh in on current events in a question-and-answer portion. But the difference is that this features hometown girls participating in the preliminary to Miss New York and the national show.

The 2008 Miss Greater Rochester Pageant takes place Saturday, February 9, at 7 p.m. in Roberts Wesleyan College's Cultural Life Center, 2301 Westside Drive. Tickets cost $5-$10. For more information call 473-4795 or visit missgreaterrochester.org.
