The origins of the Celtic cross are as varied as the people who wear the symbolic jewelry. To some it is a symbol of eternity, strongly connected to their Christian beliefs, while for others it is a marker of their Irish, Scottish, or Welsh heritage. Despite its murky beginnings, one thing is certain: the Celtic cross has been sculpted, photographed, carved, painted, and even sewn innumerable times throughout history. In honor of St. Patrick's Day and Easter, which fall in the same week this year, several of these variations will be on display at a Celtic cross exhibit.
The Celtic Cross Art Exhibition runs Wednesday, March 12, through April 27 at Walker's Celtic Jewelry, 121 Park Avenue, Suite 10. The opening reception takes place Friday, March 14, 5-8 p.m. For more information call 271-4510 or visit walkerscelticjewelry.com.
