GANDHI: Who has had the 'pain and suffering'?

Published on Mar 04, 2008
Regarding your front-page illustration showing Arun Gandhi being silenced (February 13): a more appropriate image would have been to show him with his mouth wide open and his foot firmly lodged inside. (I suppose that we should be grateful that the arm of the censor wasn't draped in the Israeli flag.)

As for Doug Noble's letter ("Silencing a Noble Voice," February 13), I note that he predictably decried "the massive human suffering that the Israeli government and its US sponsors have waged on Palestinians." Not a word about the "massive human suffering" inflicted by their own democratically-elected government (the Hamas-crats) or the "massive human suffering" they've inflicted on the Israelis.

For those who still hold to some imperishably non-reality-based dream of peace, I'd like to remind Mr. Noble and others like him that the main goal - it could be said the only goal - of its government is the annihilation of Israel. The Palestinian people can starve and drown in sewage, but the Qassam missiles, mortar attacks, and suicide bombings must go on!

I find it exceedingly ironic, considering how Israel continues to make peaceful overtures to the Palestinians (and not the other way around) that the only Jews that City Newspaper seems to feel comfortable about publicizing are the left-wing Israel-bashers.
