In years past, the ImageMovementSound festival has seen women bound in bubble-wrap swaying back and forth on stage, minimalist music compositions that were accompanied by swirling lines of light on a screen, and even a short film that zoomed in and out for five minutes, showing Los Angeles close up and far away. But the idea of the festival is to showcase progressive - and largely abstract - art by local college students and faculty that experiments in several different mediums, and put it all under one roof.
The IMS installation has been up and running and will continue through Friday, April 4, at the Rochester Contemporary Arts Center, 137 East Avenue; a closing party takes place Friday 7-10 p.m. The ImageMovementSound festival takes place Sunday, April 6, at 7 p.m. in the Ingle Auditorium on the RIT campus. Tickets cost $6, and are free for students with an I.D. card. The Best of ImageMovementSound is Saturday, May 3, on the RIT campus. Call 274-1575 or visit imsfestival.org for details.
