When saxophonist David Pope was an undergraduate student at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in the 1990's, he was already attracting attention. In 1994 he was named Down Beat magazine's top collegiate instrumental jazz soloist. Since then he has toured North America with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, toured Germany with Saxology, and performed with Benny Carter, Lou Rawls, Bob Brookmeyer, and many others. Now a leading educator, Pope knows how to squeeze more out of a sax than most players ever dream of.
