On his new album, "Four Of A Kind," Jim Rotondi proves that he is in the top ranks of jazz players on trumpet and flugelhorn. On standards like "Love For Sale" and "What Kind Of Fool Am I" and originals like "Ruth" and "Blues For BC," Rotondi and his quartet show that straight-ahead post-bop jazz is as vibrant as ever. In the 1980's Rotondi toured with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra and the Charles Earland Quintet. Over the last decade he's recorded nine albums as a leader and dozens more as a sideman.
