Friends of the Rochester Public Library and Monroe County will present "My Book Was Banned, Now What Do I Do?" - a discussion with authors Vivian Vande Velde, Bruce Coville, and Cynthia DeFelice. They will discuss censorship and their personal experiences with book banning on Saturday, May 17, at the Rochester Public Library's Kate Gleason Auditorium, 115 South Avenue, at 10:30 a.m.
A troubled land
Temple Beth El will present Israeli storyteller Noa Baum in "A Land Twice Promised" on Sunday, May 18. The story offers a woman's perspective of the Israeli and Palestinian conflict. The event is at 139 Winton Road South, at 7 p.m.
Electronics recycling
Penfield's The Young Open and Honest Players will host a personal electronics recycling event on Saturday, May 17. Televisions and monitors will be accepted with a $5 fee. The Monroe County Department of Environmental Services and the NYS Energy Research and Development Authority will host a household recycling and hazardous waste collection on Saturday, May 17, at the Perinton Highway Garage, 100 Cobbs Lane, from 8 a.m. to noon.
