FOLK: Geoff Muldaur (5/8)

Published by Ryan Whirty on May 07, 2008
Geoff Muldaur's roots run back to the folk and blues scenes of the 1960's, when he was a founding member of the Jim Kweskin Jug Band and Paul Butterfield's Better Days. Other musical ventures included collaborations with Bonnie Raitt, Jerry Garcia, and Muldaur's then-wife, Maria Muldaur. In the 1980's he composed scores for film and television (earning an Emmy along the way) and produced albums for several artists. He eventually made his way back to performing and has released a series of critically acclaimed blues and folk records that showcase his own compositions, as well as offbeat interpretations of traditional material. Muldaur has been hailed as a master guitar-picker and one of the few white singers who can truly belt the blues.
