VARIOUS: Mezapallooza (5/16-5/18)

Published by Saby Reyes-Kulkarni on May 14, 2008
With more than 25 performances taking place under one roof, the House Of Hamez (now known simply as "The Mez") is an ideal spot to catch local music this weekend. Starting Friday evening and running all day Saturday and Sunday, the Mezapallooza lineup touches on an array of styles. As expected, several acoustic-based acts appear (Kinloch Nelson and Jerry Falzone on the one end and the mystic, transgressive street poetry of Shawnee Boyeee on the other), but they are balanced by indie rock (The Nomads), experimental (Ed Downey, Blood And Bone Orchestra), hip-hop DJ'ing (Robin Hood), Celtic (Jeremiah), flamenco jazz (Liza Mugnulo, who sings in Spanish and Japanese), noise (Harlow Crandall), mathy punk (Matt Millecchia), delta blues (Raedwald), country (Dave Pronko), and much more. The event also features Pure Kona poetry and Songwriters In The Round.
