Legendary rock drummer Helm caught the boogie disease early. As a young man growing up in Helena, Arkansas, he used to catch Sonny Boy Williamson live as he broadcasted his "King Biscuit Time" radio show. Rock 'n' roll's umbilical cord hadn't even been cut when Helm caught Elvis Presley's trio live in 1955. The foundation was set and Helm wound up in Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks, which would eventually evolve into The Band's farewell concert was made into one the coolest concert films ever, "The Last Waltz." But this wasn't Helm's last waltz. Despite a bout with throat cancer, the Woodstock-based Helm continues to play and record. His latest, "Dirt Farmer," won the Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album earlier this year.
