I just have to give credit to Pam Marsocci, the artistic director for this production of Annie. She did an excellent job working with two casts of orphans and creating some wonderful stage pictures throughout the entire show. She deserves much credit for taking on an iconic musical of this caliber. Brava, Pam!
This is great news. I hope things can progress well between RBTL, the city and the county to make this happen at Midtown. I think this will be a big step forward for the city, its surrounding businesses and it's residents. I'm glad it wasn't moved to a suburb - a city's theatre belongs IN the city.
It's a shame people Caitlin can't see the good things happening downtown - and the theatre will have plenty of well lit, underground parking. I'm not sure what parts of the city she is referring to, but as a resident, my neighborhood is well lit, safe, has parking and isn't falling apart - and neither do the parts I visit and spend my time in. This kind of negative attitude will only hinder the city from continuing its redevelopment. The suburbs just have houses farther apart from each other, longer commute times and generic malls - I'd rather live in cultural district any day!

I think this a great addition to ESM - and I am thrilled to see support for the arts doing so well in Rochester. I'm sure I can't even imagine what an asset this new wing will be to the students, faculty and staff.
My only disappointment is in the exterior design of the new wing. It seems odd (and unfortunate) that the annex doesn't seem to mesh well with the original theatre it is connected to - even the awnings are two different heights - each time I drive by, it really stands out in a negative way.
