Good news on the cable TV war that erupted over the past 24 hours: Viacom and Time Warner have reached an 11th hour deal that means that none of the 19 Viacom channels that were in danger of being dropped -- including MTV, Nickelodeon, and VH1 -- will go off the air. Details weren't immediately disclosed, but it's good news for TV fans either way.

This is too bad. It would have been better had TW lost the channels and people started doing something else... like reading this paper! Excellent coverage, by the way.

I would have loved to see how quickly Time Warner would have collapsed without Viacom...I thought there were monopoly laws to protect consumers...I am sure this will lead to more money out of my pocket for cable.
