The group sing to "School's Out" was just awful. Nobody sounded good, Allison in particular sounded really terrible. Sorry! It's just the truth.
Because we were down to four, they had to stretch this mother even more than usual. So we had three musical guests. That seems excessive even for this show.
Up first: Paula Abdul! Performing! OMG! Admission: the first album I ever bought (actually, a cassette tape) was one of Paula's. She will always have a place in my heart. Paula looked fantastic, and that bitch can still move. I mean, she was clearly lip-synching, but given the really ambitious choreography, I can't fault her. The dancing was fantastic. And the truth is, in terms of the vocal effects over her singing...Paula always sounded like that. She kind of pioneered the auto-tune as popular vocal option. So Paula was a trendsetter. Who knew? (I will say that the song she performed last night, "Here for the Music," wasn't great. Not terrible, but not nearly as good as "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow," which I enjoyed in spite of myself.)
Up next: No Doubt with "Just a Girl." Wow, hey there, senior year of high school. Gwen's delivery was so staccato and largely tuneless that I couldn't figure out what she was doing. It almost sounded like she was having a stroke. I mean, Gwen has never had a great voice. But this was particularly atrocious. It was certainly ska-sounding, which is the group's origin point. But it's a little weird to see a 30something mother of two running around the stage and then doing push-ups and... I don't know. I mean, the point of the song is that girls can do anything guys can do. And props to that. But man, that was awful. My friend and I totally checked out midway through the song and started talking about a coworker of his whose bicep muscle snapped, leaving him unable to lift his arm and the damaged muscle all balled up near his shoulder. That's how off-putting No Doubt's performance was.
Results: Kris is safe! That is a shocker right there. Most people I talked to figured he was going home tonight. That very well may be why he's still in the game.
Last performance: Daughtry. I'm so glad they showed that clip of Chris's S5 elim - the Kat McPhee reaction shot is ABSOLUTELY priceless. I'm surprised he did the show, since he's worked very hard to distance himself from "Idol." But it's smart; people will eat this new album up. The song he sang was new, and really high in his range, which is not where he sounds the best. The song sounded pretty generic to me - there was no great hook. Not bad by any stretch, but it just didn't do much for me. Kind of background music. Sorry Chris! Really like you! Think you're very talented! But this was just middle of the road.
More results: Adam is safe. I don't think the moms of America could handle two Bottom 2 appearances in a row for their Chosen One. Danny is safe, meaning that 1) Allison is gone, and 2) we have a sausage fest of a Final 3.
I'm sad. Seriously. I really came to love that young woman. When I think of how much she's grown on this show - I picked her to go home FIRST in the Top 12 - it's particularly depressing. I think she's just fabulous. For her age, what she is capable of, it's really remarkable. And she just got her hair did! SADNESS! And she ripped up her encore. Ripped it up! Kudos to you, Allison Iraheta! I would buy your album! You have bewitched me!

I agree with you on everything. Everything in this article, and in the article about the Top...

I can't take this show any more. Chris was the icing on the cake - he put me right to sleep. This whole show is SO BORING. Not one singer can hit the notes, and I HATE HOW THEY DRAG OUT THIS STUPID SHOW!

Simon looked aggravated at the results, almost as if he EXPECTED for Kris or Danny to go home rather than Alison. Face it, they tried all they could to have Kris voted off for the evening....picking a genre so suited to Alison and Adam. Danny is versatile enough to sing in the rock genre convincingly.
Kudos to Kris and his fans...he deserves to be in the final three, and in the final two as well!

I'm sad too.. ADAM, DANNY and ALLISON for the final 3 would have been better .. :(

I'm completely done with American Idol. The show is just so ridiculous anymore. They need to give it up, take the show off. Its not even about talent and who has pipes anymore. If America cant be fair and vote right, I'm done with it. Allison and Adam, top 2 all day. Its so rigged! Danny was HORRIBLE last night. That was like the worst I've seen anyone on idol this late in the competition. My ears are still ringing from that scream. Whatever American Idol, you can have them. Allison will always be the better singer. Adam will win and be popular for awhile then he'll be in the toilet in about a couple years. So whatever. Peace out American Idol.

Allison going home?
I'm broken hearted.
No more Idol for me this year...I could care less about the show now.
Where can I buy Allison's abum?

Should have been Adam & Allison to the end! Sorry Chris! you are still there only because the Teeny-Bops think that you are cute.

I was shocked over Kris staying. OH WOW! Alison going home to me was a mistake and Adam looked smug, like I knew this. I agree with the writer above, Gwen's performance stunk. Daughtery was okay, and maybe they figured American Idol owed it to him because of him being picked off. I want Danny to win. Yes, Adam can sing but, I feel that an idol should be something that America should be proud of, not picking someone that their reputation has already arisen and could be a problem. Look at Fantasia no one hears about her anymore. She had a good album, what happened?

I'm glad to see Kris stay, but I loved Allison. Her final performance was fierce!
Secretly I was hoping we would have another "shocking" Idol moment with the removal of Adam but apparently my karma is shot or something. Blah.

It is what it is-- a teenie bopper, pretty boy, popularity contest! If it were truly about the talent, sorry Kris, you would have gone home tonight. You are a wonderful singer, and I have truly enjoyed you, but Allison should not have been voted off. I know she will be snatched up and will be making albumns soon--- which I will buy!

I was sad to see Allison go, but they are all so good! She will become a great rock star and her voice is identifiable. Her career has just begun. Adam is the most amazing idol contestant ever and America better get the voting right the next couple weeks. He hasn't had a bad week yet and I can't wait to see him sing on the tour. The top six were excellent this season!!!! The best season yet. And I was I am a huge fan of the David's last year and Daughtry. I'll be buying Allison's future album and of course Adam.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! This is so very wrong. What could have happened? DId people think she was so good/SAFE that they didn't vote for her? Are there a huge group of pubescent girls voting who can't get passed the sausage-factor?
Bernie: shades of AI tampering??....almost eliminated so often only to sing and raise her game..and now gone? Are our hearts beings toyed with?
Eric & Bob: We weep! Can you imagine the final with Allison and Adam??
DANI said on May. 07, 2009 at 11:11am
Allison was robbed.....also felt it should have been Allison vs Adam, if not at least she should have been there over Kris. Kris lacks the confidence also not sure who was voting but apparently they were not voting on voice. I also agree with Michael, Simon looked annoyed with the cast off Allison. The only good is seems many of AI 4th runner ups seem to do very well ...........does the name Daughtry ring any bells.
Sure Allison will have no problem with her big vocals in getting a record.

l think people had previously been splitting their votes between Adam and Allison.
Last week when Adam was in the bottom two people realized they could not split votes. They had to pick one person to vote for. Adam stayed and Allison went home.
Bernie said on May. 07, 2009 at 3:10pm
I'm ok with Kris staying, I really was hoping that it would be Danny this week. So I'm thinking it's going to be an Adam-Kris showdown. Adam and Allison would have been cool. Although.... if it's hometown week.. I'm wondering how much emotional stuff we are going to see with Danny and if they will start to play the dead wife card to get him the sympathy vote.
Sooo.. I'm upset about Alison getting the boot. And Cathy I do think maybe there was a little tampering, but maybe it was for her own good? I'm just getting the feeling lately, (though most of these kids think if they just get into the top ten they are golden) that it's better for them not to win it. Like, I loved David Cook, bought his album, voted for him and all that... but I read sales were terrible. I loved Taylor Hicks too, bought the 1st album, didn't enjoy it at all - and when I watched him last week on stage I cringed, wondering why I liked him so much... Oh AI, what are you doing to me.....

I have to say....Kris......all the way...hes awesome....great voice and great on the instruments....who else can do that?????

I can't believe I associate with a Taylor Hicks fan. I'm a poor judge of character.

I used to love this show until last elimination. So, I think, like me, there are many disappointed people who won't vote anymore. Well, it's their loss. However... GO ALLISON!!! You rock and I'm pretty sure you'll do just great out there selling records.
