"More to Love": More bad choices

The Final 4 - Tali, Mandy, Anna, and Malissa - all got to go on solo dates with Luke, and we got to know more about each of them. And although Luke's elimination choice seemed pretty obvious this time around, he ended up getting rid of the one girl he had the least reason to cut. This show shouldn't be called "More to Love." It should be called "Fat Idiot."

Luke took Tali go-kart racing, and that bitch was smoking him for a good part of the track. Tali can be fun: who knew? Then Tali was surprised by her aunt and uncle (who brought them food; she didn't even realize who they were at first because she was so hungry - HA!). Her family pointed out that if Luke and Tali go forward, they could face some real pressure from Tali's family, which is back in Israel, and which may not accept Luke because he comes from a different culture. They were frustratingly ambiguous about what they were dancing around here, but I'm guessing it's the Jewish thing. Is there such a thing as a male shiksa? What about a fat male shiksa?

Before going on her date, Sad Mandy had a little run-in with Malissa (Mandy felt Mal was mind-fucking her, which she probably was), and Mandy started up with her complaining about the fact that Luke was dating other girls at the same time he was dating her. HELLO, MANDY! Where were you when they went through the entire process that is this show? The date itself was a boat tour, and Mandy's parents were there; her parents were super cute. During the date Luke said that Mandy's confidence drew him in. Um, really? What confidence? All we've seen from her is crying. The date got increasingly uncomfortable, and Mandy seemed to bristle especially when her mother said she's "crazy." I don't think they meant, like, Kristian crazy, but the whole thing was odd. And then her parents said that they didn't think Mandy was quite ready for marriage, but certainly for a serious relationship. I thought that was totally fair. Sad Mandy took umbrage to it. I hate Sad Mandy. She's such a victim.

For Anna's date she and Luke went bowling (side note: thank you, Anna, for actually doing something with your hair, since so many of these girls just let it lay there). The two of them seemed to have a legitimately good time, and it was adorable when Anna saw her parents waiting for her. The parents threw a little shade about whether or not Anna's modeling career and the attendant travel might get in the way of her settling down. I guess that's true, but hello, Luke would be bagging a model. Totally worth it.

Malissa looked stunning on her date with Luke, and I felt like she was more legitimately connecting with Luke this time around -her competitive side seemed a little less apparent.  But undercutting every one of their exchanges is the obvious fact that the two of them clearly want to bang one another. Malissa's sisters were there. Her one sister was...rough looking. The other was absolutely gorgeous. It's interesting to note that Malissa basically was a mother figure to her youngest sister, as their mother died with the baby was 4 years old. That puts her whole demeanor in a new perspective. The rougher sister was downright severe, giving Luke the toughest grilling of the evening. Down, lady! Also interesting was the fact that neither sister thought of Malissa as particularly suited to being a mom, and Luke very clearly wants kids. The plot thickens...

Back at the house Malissa dropped the bomb that Luke asked her sisters for permission to marry her. It was clearly a playful conversation on Luke's part, but Malissa used it as the weapon it was on these other emotionally fragile weapon. That was brutal, but well played. And of course, Mandy cried. Mandy always cries. Luke finally seemed to clue in on the fact that Mandy is just a touch needy. Not sure how he missed that one this whole time. Oh, wait, right: because she barely existed until three episodes ago.

Malissa did an interview in which she basically admitted that she lied straight to Luke's face about liking kids, and about her desire to babysit. Her rationale was basically that she doesn't like taking care of other people's kids, but she would be different with her own. OK, but even your sister's kids? Your own nieces or nephews? Those are biologically a step away from you. I just can't get a clear read on this lady.

Malissa got the first ring; interesting. If he slept with her, I wonder if he'd be anywhere near as invested in her. Tali got her ring second, which meant it came down to Anna or Mandy. And Luke picked...Mandy. What is WRONG with this guy? Seriously, why is he keeping some of these women around? What is appealing about Mandy? She cries all the time! His date with Anna looked like so much fun that I wanted to be on it. Luke said that he felt Anna wasn't ready for a relationship. That's bullshit; just because she doesn't want to give up modeling doesn't mean that she's not ready for a relationship. Tyra Banks would be livid. Basically I don't think Luke wanted a woman who had a career of her own, especially one that involved travel. But I will say that Anna handled her dismissal with a TON of grace. I wouldn't be that cool about being ditched. Although given the choices the guy made, who wants to be with a loser like that anyway?

So that leaves us with Sad Mandy, Manipulative Malissa, and Tali the Pill as our Final 3, who are going to Hawaii next episode. Wow, what a totally depressing selection. It's like choosing between Moaning Myrtle, Lady Macbeth, and Velma from "Scooby-Doo." I keep hoping he'll just bring Anna in at the last minute, but that only works in the "Flavor of Love" shows. Pity.

I cannot agree with you more, Eric! I was shocked and disappointed to see Anna go tonight :( His choices are becoming unpredictably awful...

I have to agree with Eric's analysis. Anna seemed to be the most stable and, in my opinion, the most attractive of the bunch. Hard to see that this is going to end well.

I totally agree! He was threatened by Anna's career.
Maybe he was afraid Mad Mandy would stalk him if he dumped her.
There are no good choices here: Malissa seems kinda mean... Mandy seems kinda needy... and Tali is really pretty, but there's gotta be a reason why she's still single!
At this point, he should bring back Heather!!

I didn't see Anna's dismissal coming, but honestly it seemed like it took a lot to make her look like a model and that's just not appealing for some guys. As far as Mandy, she should have been gone LONG ago. She's not attractive physically or emotionally.

Malissa was my pick from Day 1. She's a knockout, she has an appealing nature and did I mention she's a knockout? Her sister Kat didn't faze me one bit. Every family's got a wannabee tough guy and Kat is it for this otherwise lovely brood.

And I agree with Eric that her baby sister was a cutie.

It's going to come down to Malissa and Tali. Malissa is safe but not maternal enough for Luke (maybe she spent it all raising her sisters but to not even change her nephews diaper or sit for him is a huge red flag) while Tali is smart, sexy, classy and clearly in a league of her own.

Due to the cultural differences, if he doesn't pick Tali she should be the next bachelorette.

Great review, Eric! Malissa has it in the bag. Unfortunately, this shows that you have to be mean to get the guy. Mandy is too mentally unstable and Tali is too "diverse," (luckily for her). This guy is NOT a catch.

Who could blame Malissa for not wanting to be a mom right away? She had to raise her sisters her whole life and was always mom. I think Malissa does show those motherly qualities and her not helping out Kat so much was prob another motherly lesson of why you shouldn't have a baby so young and expect everyone to help you

Malissa's a knockout? In what world? She has big boobs. That's it, and he can't stop looking at them (understandably). Her face is nothing. She has no features. She's a plain-looking girl with big boobs.

He got rid of Anna because when they're together, they seem more like friends. There didn't seem to be any electricity between them.

It's not a Jewish thing per se. She's Israeli and is probably hoping that Luke will convert, or at least perhaps her folks will want that.

Anyone who would want to be with Luke needs their head examined. I think his on screen persona is nauseating and probably not real. I guess Malissa's over endowment (so to speak) has caused Luke to lose his few brain cells because he doesn't seem to remember that Malissa never answered him about kids.

Next week should be interesting.
