The madness continues tonight, as we head to Pasadena, California, with guest judges Avril Lavigne (ugh!) and Katy Perry (maybe ugh?), neither of whom would have ever made it through the initial "Idol" auditions based on vocals alone. Check in at 8 p.m., where you can blog along with your own comments, and maybe spare some of Eric's sanity.

Avril still looks like she could be Nicole Kidman's daughter!

We thought that the guest judges tonight were cruel, mean-spirited, immature and lacked compassion. Their job is to analyze the singing, not whether the contestants can fit success into their current lifestyle.

The two guest judges were awful. Don't know if it was their age, arrogance, or both. What was up with the ear hoodie?

I was very disappointed in the guest judges tonight. When Avril Lavigne was their to judge singing not whether one can balance their personal life vs their career. Maybe she is still harbering ill will regarding her own personal life vs career. And Katie Perry was just plain disrespectful to Kara Dioguardi. Maybe she needs to take a step back and realize she has only been on the charts for a year. Here today gone tomorrow!

I thought that one guy named Garcia was awesome tonight.

I agree, last nights show was horrible, Simon was the nicest one! Where are they coming up with their guest judges, they have a few good ones, but not last nights. Sorry, idol, if the Cruel Comments keep up, I will not be watching this years show. I agree not everyone has talent, and you ask why do they show up there, but they still have feelings and they are putting their hearts into it. Please show some American Compassion.

I agree about the two guest judges. Avril Lavigne clearly did not belong there, and added nothing but girlish immaturity to the whole thing. Kate Perry was only slightly better, but just came off as snobbish and arrogant. Didn't like either of them in that place.

I know I've said it before but....I absolutely do not like this focus on the people who do not stand a chance. There is nothing interesting or kind watching them come apart.
I have to admit that I sort of got a kick out of Katie Perry and her confidence to tell people: 'No'....i didn't even think she was so disrespectful of Kara....it's a big world and they are all entitled to their opinion.
Avril....puhlease. I hated the 'hoodie'....her comments about balancing a Life and Singing....she is an embarrassment.

I think Avril is too immature and unprofessional to be a judge. She was egocentric and only liked contestants with the same taste as her own. Katy Perry needs to get off of her high horse and show some tact.

Get Neil off - find SOMEBODY remotely entertaining or at least musically qualified to be a judge!!!!!! He doesn'[t know anymore than I do - he is condescending and nothing more than a light weight actor at best. I KNOW there are some music stars who would happily be an idol judge. Please find them - these guest judges suck!!

Loved the show from the start but this is my last year to watch. Can't stand Ellen Dedenerate and will not watch due to her.
