"RuPaul's Drag Race" Season 2, Episode 4: If that skirt was any shorter, we’d have to arrest you for dealing crack

The episode opened with Sonique being a terrible bitch about Mystique, including calling her "shit." Ouch. To her credit, Tatianna stuck up for Mystique, and I gained some respect for her. However, for all of Tatianna's bitching about Sonique's shade-throwing, Tatianna was doing the exact same thing herself. Oh, irony! You're even more pronounced in eyeliner and falsies.

Ru came in and introduced the mini-challenge, "The Queen is Right," in which the contestants had to guess the prices of drag-queen staples. They had three heats to determine the finalists. First up were Raven, Jujubee, and Sahara, guessing the price of a sixpack of tube socks. Raven took it with her guess of $9.45. Group two: Pandora, Morgan, and Jessica, guesstimating about a tube of Preparation H. Hilariously Jessica won with her guess of $4.50, despite not even knowing what Preparation H was. The last group -- Tyra, Sonique, and Tatianna -- got duct tape, and Sonique won with a guess of $4.

That left Raven, Jessica, and Sonique battling itout in the Showcase Throw-Down. The queens had to guess the cost for all the items needed for a ladyboy night on the town: brass knuckles, pepper spray, and a brand new wig made from real human hair. Sonique guessed $225.01. Jessica bid $390. Raven went $395. Correct price: more than $1000 (SHIT!), so Raven won! That must have been some expensive human hair! Raven got all the prizes, and the opportunity to call his mom. The pone call was hilarious, with Raven first having a terrible time even connecting with his mom, and then the two of them discussing church. It may interest you to know that all of Raven's mom's fellow parishioners are praying for Raven's success on the show. Awww.

Ru then announced that the main challenge was for the queens to do celebrity impersonations in a mock-up of "Match Game" called, of course, "Snatch Game." The point of the challenge was to steal the spotlight and make the judges laugh. That was right up Pandora's alley; I bet she loved this challenge. The girls then had to pick the celebrities they would be impersonating. Sonique chose Lady Gaga, Morgan did Pink (I don't know how you make Pink funny...), Tatianna went with Britney, Jessica made the ballsy choice to impersonate RuPaul, Pandora went old-school with Carol Channing (which elicited a huge reaction out of Ru), Raven selected Paris Hilton ("she's fun to make fun of," in his words), Tyra did Beyonce, Jujubee went with Kimora Lee Simmons (perfect), and Sahara picked Whitney Houston - specifically "Being Bobby Brown" era Whitney. Show me the receipts, Sahara!

In a nice moment, Morgan allowed Tatianna to borrow one of her wigs for her Britney impersonation. But weirdly, Tatianna almost took it as an insult, saying that Morgan only did it because she didn't see Tatianna as a threat. Morgan has certainly had major bitch moments, but I didn't get a whiff of nastiness there. I'm glad Tatianna isn't allowing herself to be a punching bag, but that chip on her shoulder just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

"The Snatch Game" started, with the "contestants" played by GoFugYourself fave Phoebe Price and Alec Mapa from "Ugly Betty." Pandora was dead-on as Carol, totally whacked out for the whole bit, and coming up with most of the best answers. You could tell she was having a blast. Morgan immediately bombed as Pink. Sonique did nothing as Lady Gaga, save for covering one of her shade lenses with glitter shit. Jessica was having a ton of fun as RuPaul, and Ru himself appeared to be enjoying it. However, Sonique pointed out that Jessica's take wasn't really Ru at all - she was totally whacked out and zany, and RuPaul is a professional. She does things...professionally. Raven had Paris Hilton's idiocy down pat, but the voice was not there. Sahara totally had the Whitney laugh down. Tatianna was ridiculously convincing as Britney, and hilarious to boot. She could make a killing peddling that routine around Hollywood, I think. Tyra just went on autopilot as Beyonce; even Pandora called out the fact that she was just doing Tyra, and was lucky to have immunity. The actual question-and-answer portion of the game show was fucking amazing with some serious gut-busting laughs. In the end, Pandora and Tatianna really rocked it, while Morgan and Sonique bombed.

Runway: guest judges this week were Niecy Nash and Lisa Rinna. C-listers unite! The runway challenge was for the dolls to knock it out with their personal style. Pandora really glammed it up this week with a brilliant, glittery scale-like dress. Tyra was giving us Alexis Carrington realness, and totally buttered up the judges with her handmade Santino boutique bags. Morgan had a ringmaster-type outfit. Jujubee came out in a loud-print bodysuit and purply fur shrug and exclaimed, "I feel like I'm a super hero diva and my super power is glitter." I can't put it better than that. Sonique was totally up in Catwoman territory - it didn't seem like her personal style to me at all. Tatianna's tiny purple skirt rode right up, and we nearly saw her candy. Sahara looked like a dominatrix dipped in lace. It was decidedly odd.

When we came back, the game show metaphor was continued to "Deal or No Deal." All the girls were holding metal briefcases. If the queens opened the cases and got a picture of a heel in their case, they were safe. If there was no heel, they were either in the top or the bottom. Ultimately that group ended up being Morgan, Juju, Pandora, Sonique, and Tatianna.

Juju got mixed reviews; Niecy Nash thought she was too much of a slow burn in the comedy department. Sonique got beat up for not being at all funny as Lady Gaga, but she said she wanted to focus on the fashion. But that wasn't the challenge, dear. Pandora was praised for doing great camp in the challenge, and Lisa Rinna thought she nailed it. It was a total love fest for Tatianna, except this bon mot from Merle: "I want to see more charm and less hooker." Yeah, the outfit was BAD. The judges told Morgan that her Pink was a flop, and she agreed.

After deliberations Pandora was told that she delivered a standout performance, and was safe, but was overshadowed by one of her competitors. And that was Tatianna - she won the week. Her Britney was awesome, although I would have liked to have seen her dinged for her trashtacular runway outfit. It was no surprise that Sonique was up for elimination, and Morgan joined her in the bottom. Lastly there was Jujubee, who RuPaul told explicitly to stop swimming in the middle of the pack, and turn up the heat. I agree. I love Juju, and I think she could take this. She's my second favorite after Pandora.

The lipsynch song was the great 80's cheesefest "Two of Hearts" by former adult star turned one-hit-wonder Stacy Q. Morgan was immediately turning it out with all sorts of twirling and vogue arm movements. Sonique was more subdued, mostly just standing there...until she started stripping, right down to her tiger-striped underpants. And then that bitch busted out some serious acrobatics and gymnastics. She used the entire runway, doing flips and jumps and RuPaul knows what else. It was impressive, but I got the feeling that Sonique had no idea what she was doing for the first half of the song. Morgan may not have been as flashy, but she was consistent and energetic, and very precise with the lipsynching.

Ru said it was the most difficult decision she'd ever made. And ultimately Morgan got to stay, and Sonique was eliminated. That's' a shame; she was a beautiful woman, and had incredible athleticism. But she never really emerged as a star during her time on the show.

Next: gay weddings! Major runway shade from Tyra! MARTHA WASH!

I praise Tatianna for finally sticking up for herself. Both Morgan and Raven have had a condescinding attitude from the start. Sonique, Morgan and Raven all decidedly attempted to throw Tatianna under the bus during episode 3.
I personally believe that Tatianna is stunningly beautiful and she intimidates her competition to the point of jealousy, envy, and ridicule.

I get the feeling from the phone call, that Raven's mom is either ashamed of her, or at the very least, she does not have any heart-felt acceptance of Raven's chosen life-style....That convesation was a little too quick and too cold!

I think Tatianna is gorgeous, and think that she has just as much right to be there as anyone else, she kind of reminds me of Rebeca glasscock from the first season; both are strikingly beautiful and hopefully Tatianna will last as long as Rebecca did.
I also think that Morgan and Raven should be knocked off their high horses because Tatianna has been dressing up since she was 14 and has perfected her look to a 'T

Oh pleaaaaaseee, grow up! Tatiana was a monumental prick. She just got to stay that long due to her looks and not by her talent. I'm really glad that after season 2 she disappeared from the map. Surely no one want's to work with someone so judgmental and immature.
