Rochester Museum and Science Center has a plan to turn the Upstate economy around one kid at a time. "Through Kids Corporation activities, we hope to create the next generation of Rochester entrepreneurs," says Dr. Calvin Uzelmeier, Manager of Exhibits and Floor Programs.

Kids Corporation activities will help kids design new products, decide who to market them to, and how to price them to sell. "Innovation is the other side of invention. It's the creative aspect of business that we're striving to highlight," explains Uzelmeier.

If you're raising a little communist, relax. The activities have loads of entertaining, gee-whiz appeal. For example, which U.S. coin has a president on both sides? A quick look though a 100x microscope, and presto! Come Monday morning, your kid's wowing 'em on the school bus.

Other activities --- which vary week-to-week --- include designing business cards, a memory game with coin images, and a money graph. Print a $100 bill, then decide how to spend it by cutting it up and depositing the pieces into various graph categories including savings, bill-paying, and toy purchases. "We're hoping to spark conversation and get families talking about important financial decisions," Uzelmeier says. Plan now so the kids aren't living in your basement later.
