Wow. Epic fail guys. Phillip Rawleigh? Are you kidding me? My college buds and I turned 21 back in 2004. Since then we've been flocking to Lux on a weekly basis with a group of unruly misfits I call my friends. When this guy started working we almost quit going to the bar. Worst service ever from this guy. Seriously. If you're not a chick, or an attractive guy, you'll stand at the bar and watch girl, after good looking guy, after girl, come and go while you continue to stand. When you do get to order its like ordering from a Drink Nazi. I'm done reading your magazine. Forever.

To Russ: These are not City Newspaper's choices. These are the results of the Readers' Poll. We have absolutely no say in who gets nominated, or who wins.

yeah, well, magazines that have absolutely no say over what gets published in their magazines aren't the kind I like to read anymore.

Disappointed Luxer said on Nov. 16, 2009 at 4:46pm

As a longtime luxer, i am really disappointed to see that Mr. Philip Rawleigh has been selected Best Bartender in Rochester. It seems that regardless of how patient and polite i am, how well i tip, or what i'm ordering, i have to wait for Mr. Rawleigh to serve all of his friends before getting my drinks along with a healthy dose of attitude and usually a dirty look.

I feel like this award is really more of a popularity contest than a show of what bartender in rochester is the fastest, friendliest or most competent in pouring drinks. It's likely (and sad) that most voters saw that a Lux bartender was a finalist in this category and picked them purely on a "Wooooo i go to that bar!" whim rather than actually for his competency as a bartender.

I go, and will continue to go, to lux quite regularly. But i'm really taken aback that the ONLY bartender in rochester that i loathe seeing when i walk in the door got picked best in rochester.

Really?

Hi Ladies and Gentlemen,
In case you have not realized this whole "BEST OF" IS a popularity contest. Just beacuse someone is more popular then you or whom you thought should have one, no need to hate.

The fact that you actually would consider NOT reading a magazine because THE PEOPLE voted for Phil and the magazine editors didn't tamper with the results is just obsurd.

It is a popularity contest. Hands down.
Phil won because he is a popular bartender.
Now stop taking things so literally and feeling sorry for yourself.

kthanksbye.

I looooooove Philip and I'm so very happy that he won. He does a great job and has a wonderful (and professional) attitude!

Sorry to the sore losers that just want to whine and cry, you're just jealous!
