Step right up to the greatest show in town: City Newspaper's Best of Rochester 2009!
Every year City asks Rochesterians to tell us their picks for the best restaurants, businesses, arts groups, people, places, and things in the Greater Rochester area. And this year it really was a circus: we had a record-breaking number of votes in both our primary AND final ballots, which made many of the categories much more competitive. Sure, there were a couple runaway winners (you folks really love the Dinosaur, Bob Duffy, and Abby Wambach, don't you?), but other races were real squeakers - some categories were decided by fewer than 10 votes. That should be even more incentive for you to vote for your favorites next year.
In addition to our readers' poll winners, City's critics chimed in with their favorite things about Rochester. Our critics' picks celebrate the lesser-known gems in our fair city; people, places, and events that make living here unlike living anywhere else. If you have your own thoughts about what makes Rochester so special, sound off in the comments section of this article at rochestercitynewspaper.com.

Congratulations to all the Best of Rochester winners. Congratulations to all the contenders. Most of the privately owned businesses in Rochester are all very good or excellent. You all deserve to be rated #1. This "contest" is just a silly thing to draw interest to this paper. All of you who own your own establishment know how tireless you work to provide the best service or product to your customers. Please know as one business owner to another I realize how hard you work and all deserve a job well done. Keep up the great work and make Rochester the special place that it is to live and shop.
