DISH 2010

Unlike sports or politics, gastronomy is one of the few topics about which people get passionate but not violent. While the world has seen many heated discussions concerning food, rarely has anyone ever rioted about the yummiest cut of steak, and few, if any, have been punched out in debate over the best recipe for pie crust. "Food is our common ground, a universal experience," culinarian James Beard wrote.

DISH is City Newspaper's semi-annual dining guide, featuring articles of interest to foodies, wannabe foodies, or anyone interested in learning more about that "universal experience." In this installment you'll find local chefs sharing where they like to eat when they get a night out of the kitchen; a round-up of some of our favorite mouth-watering specialty sandwiches; and flambé recipes for the brave home cooks eager to set their food on fire (intentionally - and safely, please).

For more local food content, check out the Restaurants section at rochestercitynewspaper.com, where you can find an archive of all of our weekly dining columns, including restaurant reviews and Rochester food news, as well as our searchable online restaurant guide, with listings for hundreds of local eateries.
