Blackfriars Theatre is making the most of its new home on East Main Street with a new summer series of adult-oriented theater shows. "Hot Summer Nights" events will include:

-"Things You Shouldn't Say Past Midnight: A Comedy in Three Beds" (June 23-August 5), about three pairs of lovers each trying to enjoy a night of passion, when things go horribly awry.

-Estrofest 2010/Take 2 (June 18-19, August 7, 13, 15), featuring the zany all-female local improv comedy troupe.

-The Changing Scene Cabaret Remembered (July 1-August 19), with famed local cabaret duo Phyl Contestable and Alan Jones, and starring Reverend Mother.

-"Rounding Third" (July 9-24), a two-man comedy about a pair of mismatched little league coaches.

-"Debbie Does Dalls" (July 30-August 21), dubbed by Blackfriars as "the most important theatrical event of the 21st century," and -- I quote from the press release -- "a modern morality tale told as a comic musical of tragic proportions in the language of the rodeo-porno-football circus."

Blackfriars Theatre is located at 795 E Main St. Tickets for Hot Summer Nights shows cost $20. For more information on Blackfriars, call 454-1260 or visit the website.
