I had a feeling I wouldn't have an ugly purse I wanted to give away. You see, I like ugly. Ugly is its own sort of beauty. I had planned to stop by a secondhand store and purchase the ugliest one I could find. Then I would win "The Ugliest Purse" title at the Ugly Purse Party at the Bagel Bin Cafe, thereby winning a Beijo designer bag. But, I didn't have time, and when I went shopping in my closet I couldn't find a purse I was willing to part with. So, I went purse-less.
For shame, Rochester! For shame! Only one of you -- besides me -- showed, and even that was a pit stop. Michele Ladd, who organized the event, told me only one person had come. After reading of the event in CITY -- yay CITY! -- she had stopped by just to drop off an ugly purse, but not to stay.
The event was conceived to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer, what seems to be a hot topic these days. That practically nobody showed astounds me. The event even showcased Beijo's homage to breast cancer awareness, the Pinky Promise bag. With all the silly things using the signature pink ribbon, this one actually looks good in my opinion. And it's functional. The other designs were very nice, too. Very classic.
Well, you'll all have the chance to redeem yourselves when another Ugly Purse Party happens in mid-December (details yet to come). That gives me time to hit some secondhand stores, too. Watch out, because I'm planning on winning.
To Kurt: Not sure how that happened, but it has been fixed again. But now I'm hungry for an RBLT.

Dale,
I thank you for coming out in the snow to see what the Ugly Purse Party was all about. Though we had nobody in attendance,I am assuming it was because the weather was not the greatest and most ladies are unaware of how fabulous Beijo bags really are.
I will be rescheduling the event as I believe this is a great cause. I chose to have the party for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester as my first attempt at raising money for a charity as my mother is a survivor and the cause is near and dear to my heart. The event will be rescehduled for January.
Now,with that said, I am having a fundraiser at the Coffee Connection on Dec 12 from 7-9PM located at 681 South Ave. We are having an Ugly Purse Party. Bring your ugliest purse and whoever has the ugliest purse will win a FREE Beijo Bag,and you then have an opportunity to purchase a new Beijo Bag,it's that simple. Coffee Connection is a non profit organization helping disadvantaged women and a portion of the sales goes towards the cause.Bring your friends and have some fun.
Also, in December, date to be determined,Catholic Family Center will be hosting an Ugly Purse Party to raise money for one of the Women's Shelter's.
Check out the bags online www.beijobags.com. If you are an organization that would like to raise money or an individual just wanting to have a Beijo party, feel free to contact me.
Happy Holidays!

Dale,
The event starts at 7PM and the coffee shop will stay open so we may all enjoy the wonderful coffees and treats they serve. Hope to see you there with your ugliest purse :) I hope the women of Rochester come out and support this cause as the women of the Womens Coffee Connection need to know we care.
