What will Leila Josefowicz do with half a million dollars? The violinist didn't win the lottery: she's getting a 2008 Macarthur Foundation no-strings-attached grant for her advocacy and commitment to music. You have the chance to see one of music's rising stars show off her dazzling technique when Josefowicz joins the RPO to perform Beethoven's Violin Concerto, a hum-able, boisterous journey some think is the best concerto ever, period. On top of that, Christopher Seaman will conduct Gabrieli's Fanfare for Brass Choir arranged by Mark Scatterday, Smetana's "From Bohemia's Fields and Groves," No. 4 from "Má vlast," and JanáÄek's Sinfonietta.
