Multi-reed master Ken Peplowski left college early to join The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra on clarinet. After studying saxophone with Sonny Stitt, Peplowski moved to New York where he encountered myriad styles of jazz. In 1984 his hero, Benny Goodman, came out of retirement and hired him as a saxophonist in his band. Since then Peplowski has worked with Peggy Lee, Cedar Walton, Tom Harrell, and many others, in addition to recording 20 albums as a leader.
Peplowski plays Thursday and Friday, January 8-9, at 8:30 p.m. at the Grill at Strathallan, 550 East Ave. For more information call 461-5010.
