Whether he's playing the music of Thelonious Monk, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Cole Porter, or Richard Rogers, pianist Ted Perry has a light, springy touch reminiscent of Ahmad Jamal. He has obviously gleaned a great deal from the greats he's played with, including Kenny Burrell, Ernie Watts, and Nick Brignola. In addition to his regular Saturday gig this month at the Little, Perry will be featured in a live broadcast on Jazz 90.1 FM WGMC at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14.

This trio rocks the house. It is very clear that a love of the music itself is what drives the trio, and the playful exchanges between the piano and drums during live sets made recent shows at the Little even better. Go catch these guys before they get all famous and rich and jaded and enter their Vegas-Velvet-jumpsuit phase and you can't afford tickets any more.
