For the longest time, he's been the piano man of the baby grand, Captain Jack, and paramour of the Uptown Girl. And so it goes that Billy Joel's music will say goodbye to Hollywood and hello to an Eastman Theatre crowd in a concert featuring the RPO, conductor Jeff Tyzik, and vocalist Michael Cavanaugh, the original star of Broadway's "Movin' Out." This night, go just the way you are. Along with some of Joel's famous songs, you'll hear the music of Jerry Lee Lewis, Elton John, The Who, and others. This is the time for crossover, but it's still rock ‘n' roll to me.
Michael Cavanaugh: The Music of Billy Joel
Friday-Saturday, April 24-25
Eastman Theatre, 26 Gibbs St
8 p.m. | $24-$70 | 454-2100, rpo.org
