When that disembodied voice on the radio talks about "the hits of the 70's, 80's, 90's, and today," it's almost certain that "today" includes the All-American Rejects. The band lept to fame in the early aughts by way of "TRL"-climbing hit "Swing Swing" and the success of its platinum self-titled debut. The Rejects have moved a lot of records since then, but the band hasn't moved far from its core pop-rock sound. Its hooks are still smothered in production that's edgy while staying inoffensive. And the band continues to sing about endearing but not-so-serious break-ups and make-ups, as on its latest, 2008's "When the World Comes Down." Current single "Gives You Hell" is close to a perfect song - the next gem might have the band riding the wave of "today" well into radio forever.
