There's plenty of jazz, blues, and rock to go around, but Rochester is a choral town. Thousands of people belong to choirs and sing for fun. A few serious vocalists have resurrected the Bach Choir, and with organist/conductor James . Bobb, they'll present Bach's motet "Komm, Jesu, komm." Flutist Bonita Boyd will play Bach's lovely "Baroque Sonata in B minor" for flute and harpsichord in a varied program that will also link motets by Praetorius, Schein, and Homilius. This will be Bobb's last concert appearance in Rochester as music director for the Bach Festival, and as director of music for the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word. After 15 years in Rochester, he's relocating to Columbus, Ohio.

It’s amazing how one man can still inspire such hot debate and interpretation. I found an interesting discussion on Pandalous about how using the pedal can alone change so much to a Bach piece. It’s here: www.pandalous.com/nodes/bach_and_the_pedal

Years ago I regularly attended the Rochester Bach Festival, when it was held at Asbury-First Methodist Church on East Ave. I've just found a vintage promotional
leaflet from one of those years---it was the 16th festival---but the printed piece isn't dated---anywhere on it. Can someone tell me in which year the 16th Rochester Bach Festival was held? I'm guessing it was in the late 1960's or early 1970's. I want to have this leaflet framed, but not until I know the year it's promoting. Feel free to reply to my e-mail: tcpautler@juno.com
