COUNTRY: Kenny Chesney (6/4)

By Ryan Whirty on June 3, 2009

The reigning Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, Kenny Chesney is as big as they come in Nashville and beyond, a man who's become the king of middle-of-the-road pop-country. However, that doesn't mean he's resting on his laurels; some of his most recent work includes an adventurous, fruitful collaboration with reggae legends The Wailers. On his most recent CD, "Just Who I Am: Poets and Pirates," Chesney turns inward for a quieter, more introspective approach to the genre. On Thursday he serves as the headliner of a contemporary country shindig that also includes opening acts Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum.

Kenny Chesney plays Thursday, June 4, 7:30 p.m. at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, Darien Center. $39.50-$80. livenation.com.
