HIP-HOP: The Gunpoets (6/20)

By Todd Rezsnyak on June 17, 2009

Self-described as "The Roots meets Rage Against the Machine with a slice of Sublime," The Gunpoets are a six-piece live hip-hop band hailing from Ithaca. Having become a prominent part of their local music scene, The Gunpoets have now focused their attention on building a regional audience, and thus have targeted the Rochester market, teaming up with Rochester's own live hip-hop/jazz band, Subsoil. Aiming to be more socially conscious and politically relevant than most hip-hop acts today, these two bands bring something a little bit different to the hip-hop world, and the music scene in general.
