POP/ROCK: Relient K (6/26)

By Eric Rezsnyak on June 24, 2009

Relient K may be big in the contemporary Christian scene, but that doesn't mean us heathens can't enjoy the band's driving pop-punk too. The band from Canton, Ohio, has achieved mainstream success due to its undeniable songs packed with clever lyrics, like "Be My Escape" and "Mood Rings." The sound is similar to early Blink-182, but brighter and cleaner, and the CD covers are refreshingly porn-star free. The band has won two Dove Awards, and has been nominated for a Grammy as well. Owl City also performs.

Relient K performs Friday, June 26, 7 p.m. at Water Street Music Hall, 204 N Water St. $15-$17. 800-745-3000.
