With a voice as deep as an oil well and just as slick, Dave Donnelly has pumped classic country into the veins of Rochester on and off for more than half a century. His isn't the line-dancing, sparkle, crinoline petticoat, reception hall-sized production that has come to be known as modern country, but rather the tummy-rubbing, ass-grabbin, give-me-a-whiskey-and-lower-the-lights-baby dive affair. This weekend Donnelly plays his last gig in these parts before heading north to be with family. Friday night you can have him all to yourself, but Saturday night you'll have to share him with the long line of past and present band members as they play with and for him. Bring a snack to pass and eat up this last chance to enjoy a legend in his own time. As one fan put it, "Thar's only two kinds of music; country and western. This guy is both."
