POLKA: Accordion Jam (7/19)

By Dale Evans on July 15, 2009

When you mention the accordion, what usually comes to mind are polkas and Weird Al Yankovic. But the instrument is prevalent in modern music if you dig a little. Musicians like the Counting Crows, Tom Waits, Flogging Molly, and Great Big Sea have all incorporated the squeezebox for its unique one-man-band sound. You can listen and/or participate in the Polish Heritage Society of Rochester's fourth Accordion Jam. John Firth, Danny Mocniak, and Ted Kania lead the event. If you plan to BYOA, you can download sheet music at polishheritagerochester.org.
