JAZZ: Frank Strazzeri (8/28-8/29)

By Ron Netsky on August 26, 2009

After studying at the Eastman School of Music in the early 1950's, pianist Frank Strazzeri was a fixture in the Rochester jazz club scene. He played with greats like Billie Holiday and Roy Eldridge before settling in New Orleans with Al Hirt. After stints on the road with the bands of Charlie Ventura and Woody Herman, Strazzeri moved to Los Angeles where he worked with the best of the west coast players: Chet Baker, Bud Shank, Art Pepper, Herb Ellis, and the Lighthouse All-Stars. He'll bring all of that history with him when he sits in on piano at the Strathallan.

Frank Strazzeri performs Friday and Saturday, August 28-29, 8:30 p.m. at the Grill at Strathallan, 550 East Ave. Free. 461-5010.
