The original "American Idol" (crowned back in 2002, if you can believe it) and Gavin DeGraw launch this year's grandstand line-up at the New York State Fair. Breaking out of the sugary sound of her initial singles, Clarkson has not only gained real credibility in the business, but has the voice to back it up. A fixture on Top 40 radio since her coronation, Clarkson recently released her fourth album, bringing her sound back to the more pop/rock feel she became known for. DeGraw, meanwhile, built a sizeable fan base on the back of songs like "Chariot" and "I Don't Want To Be," making accessible rock songs with pop leanings.
