If you haven't kept up with the explosive changes going on in the world of classical music, pianist Zuzanna Szewczyk's final doctoral recital is the perfect place to catch up. Ten years after starting at Eastman, Szewczyk (pronounced chef-chick) performs there for the last time with a program that consists of pieces written in 2008-2009 by Eastman-affiliated composers (including the premiere of "Strange Flowers, Occasional Storms," written for Szewczyk by Robert Morris, chair of the composition department). Electronics play a prominent role in the various works, and Szewczyk's modernist presentation underscores how today's composers are mirroring the abstract progression of other art forms. Look out for Szewczyk's paintings, a pink toy piano, barking dogs, and other unannounced guests.
