The Silversun Pickups have been turning heads lately thanks to "Panic Switch," the debut single from their recently released "Swoon" album. Having toured with Ok Go and Snow Patrol hasn't hurt, either. With a fuzzy, dirty yet atmospheric sound, the quartet toes the line between grungy and lofty, soaring pop. Meanwhile, tour mates Cage the Elephant is a more straight-forward rock band, with guitars and drums front and center, playing songs that are uncluttered with post-production shenanigans and the melodic detail some other bands labor over. It's a perfect bar night companion.
Silversun Pickups play Friday, October 23, 7:30 p.m. at Main Street Armory, 900 E Main St. $25-$30. 232-3221, rochestermainstreetarmory.com.
