The Rochester area is lucky to have an abundance of stellar amateur music organizations, one of which is the Brighton Symphony Orchestra. The BSO is comprised of musicians who have day jobs outside of the field. A glance at the orchestra bios reveals an attorney, a teacher, and even a dog groomer. This week the symphony presents its autumn concert, led by guest conductor William Osinski. The program includes standards, such as Johann Strauss II's "Overture to Die Fledermaus," "Finlandia" by Sibelius, and Gliere's "Russian Sailor's Dance" from "The Red Poppy Ballet." Raisa Kislik, assistant concertmaster of the BSO, and principal harpist Paul Knoke are also featured as soloists on Massenet's "Meditation" from his opera "Thaïs."
