Christmas Eves are do-able. Then there is Christmas Day. Another year without any toys. At exactly what age do they stop coming, replaced by the practical socks and gloves? The floor is decorated with wrapping paper balls, you're stuffed and sleepy, and, most of all, just plain sick of being festive and polite, inducing or avoiding the familial bickering.
