HIP-HOP: Hassaan Mackey (1/15)

Hassaan Mackey is what I like to call Rochester's "Mad Scientist of Rap." This is for a number of reasons. Offstage the experienced emcee comes across as soft-spoken and pensive. However, as soon as he gets a mic in his hand, the transformation from Jekyll to Hyde is complete. Freestyle competitors tend to freeze in fear when Mackey steps into the cipher, and he's always in the lab cooking up something new. He is hosting this show to release his new CD, the follow up to "Soul For Sale," on legendary underground label Rawkus Records. Do yourself a favor and check him out. Just remember: stay on his good side. And never, ever challenge him to a freestyle battle. Kev Brown opens.
