Lately TV has been deluged by reality singing competitions. One of the more popular ones this past year was "The Sing-Off," which featured a cappella groups from across the country competing for a $100,000 cash prize and a recording contract. While this week's International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella Competition Mid-Atlantic Quarterfinals at Nazareth College won't be awarding those kinds of prizes, it will give a cappella groups from New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey the chance to compete for the top two spots, and a ticket to the regional semifinals. From there the winners of the semifinals will perform in New York's Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts - not too shabby, considering that most of these student-run groups are responsible for arranging and choreographing their performances. Nazareth's own Call4Backup will be playing host to this competition, one which probably won't be cutthroat, but almost certainly entertaining.
