Remember Jason and the Scorchers? Were they country? Were they rock? Yes and yes. And in the way they were, Leroy Townes & The Lone Stars aren't. However, it's the same thing, really. Both styles serve to cancel out and support one another, kind of like a marriage. The band comes from the prairies of Buffalo, and rocks with an eerie rural twang and ballsy rant and rave. There's something for everyone - screw the rest. Also look for a free show at the Record Archive, 33 1/3 Rockwood St, at 4 p.m.
Leroy Townes & the Lone Stars plays Saturday, February 6 at 8 p.m. at Dubland Underground, 315 Alexander St. $3. 232-7550.
